Dear Friends,
Welcome to my official web site! Julie and I would like to thank you for allowing me to serve as your State Representative for District 49.

I hope that you find this site useful and informative. After being elected in 2002 and re-elected in 2006 one of my goals has been to make sure the people I serve are informed on what I am doing as your elected official and to ensure that you will be kept up to date on the activities of your state government. Over the last four years I have traveled throughout the district and met with many residents of Bibb and Shelby County

who share my desire to have someone they can count on to do the right thing in Montgomery. My strong determination to represent you in an honest and conservative manner is something you can always count on.

If you find that there is some information regarding state government that might be more helpful to you on this web site, please feel free to contact me so I can have it provided for you. As your State Representative in Montgomery, I would like to invite you to call on me if I can ever be of any assistance to you or your family.

Again, thank you for allowing me to serve you,

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — Alabama has come up with a low-cost way to educate teachers about how to help the rapidly growing number of autistic children in public schools.

The program will train teachers through the state's distance learning program that is used to offer foreign languages and advanced placement courses to high school students across the state.

The leaders of the Alabama Autism Task Force, Lt. Gov. Jim Folsom Jr. and state Rep. Cam Ward joined officials from the state Department of Education to announce the program Wednesday. They said Alabama will be the second state after Pennsylvania to use this approach.

Autism is a brain development disorder characterized by impaired social interaction and communication. It usually appears by the time a child is 3. (read more)
