Ward Announces Grant for Alabaster Police Department

Alabaster, Alabama- State Representative Cam Ward announced today that a grant has been awarded for the Alabaster Police Department to assist in the development of the Project Lifesaver Program.  The $2,500 grant will be used to acquire tracking equipment for this program which is carried out in cooperation with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office.

“Alabaster has residents, with disabilities such as Autism and Alzheimer’s who greatly benefit from the added security this voluntary tracking system would provide,” said Alabaster Chief of Police Stanley Oliver.  The system has been used successfully by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department by the past and it is hoped that it will be expanded to the entire county.  “Having one of these receivers on site at the Alabaster Police Department will allow us to respond immediately in the event one of our citizens becomes lost,” Oliver went on to say.

Representative Cam Ward said “I am pleased to be able to present this grant so that those who are in the most need in our community can enjoy the safe protections and added benefits that this program brings in assisting the Alabaster Police Department.”
