Ward Announces $2,500 Grant for Helena Intermediate School Library

Helena, Alabama- State Representative Cam Ward announced a grant for $2,500 today for Helena Intermediate School.  Ward made the announcement as part of his district listening tour with the faculty and staff of Helena Intermediate.

The grant will be used to assist the Helena Intermediate School Library in building their digital circulation for the students.  Recently while visiting the school, Tami Genry, the media specialist for the library met with Representative Ward and discussed the recent efforts that the faculty and PTO were making in improving access to materials on compact disk.

“We must always be prepared to have as many learning resources available to the students as possible,” said Representative Ward.  “I would like to personally thank Ms. Genry and the Helena Intermediate School Library for making the effort to ensure our youth have the most technologically advanced materials to assist in their educational experience,” Ward said.  The grant was part of a series of grants from the Alabama State Legislature for the 2006-2007 academic school year. 

The meeting concluded with Ward inviting those present to participate in his legislative survey for issues affecting our community.  Representative Ward has been promoting this survey as a means of getting more feedback from residents for what issues they would like to see addressed in the upcoming session of the Alabama Legislature.
