REP. CAM WARD ANNOUNCES $20,000 GRANT FOR PELHAM HIGH SCHOOL TRACK IMPROVEMENTS

Pelham, Alabama— State Representative Cam Ward joined Pelham High School Principal Robert Lavett and Athletic Director Brett Burnett on Tuesday in presenting a grant for $20,000 to the school.

The grant was secured by Representative Ward after working closely with Lavett and Pelham Mayor Bobby Hayes.  The monies will be used to help pay for some of the costs incurred in upgrading the new track facility at the high school.

Representative Ward said “I think the City of Pelham and Pelham High School should be commended for making tremendous strides in providing their students with the best possible facilities.  It is truly a testament to how strong this community is.”  Ward went on to say, “I hope that this grant is helpful in completing these renovations and I appreciate the opportunity to work with Mayor Hayes and the high school to help move this effort forward.”

Mr. Lavett said he “appreciated Representative Ward always taking the time to be available and supportive for the high school.  Whenever I need something from him, he always steps forward to help.”

The grant was from part of the community service grants program appropriated by the Alabama Legislature during the 2006-07 Education Trust Fund budget.
