Ward Receives Silver Spoon Award for Work on Behalf of Restaurant and Hospitality
Industry
(MONTGOMERY, ALABAMA)—The Alabama Restaurant Association presented
Representative Cam Ward (R-Alabaster) with its “Silver Spoon Award” for 2009
for his contribution to the hospitality and food industries. The award was
presented Monday night in Montgomery.
“As a state representative, Cam Ward has demonstrated a real knowledge
of economic development. He has been instrumental in bringing new businesses to
his district, many of which are restaurants,” said Larry Fidel, President &
CEO of the Alabama Restaurant Association. “Our industry employs thousands of
people in Alabama, and leaders like Cam Ward make that possible,” Mr. Fidel
added.
Upon receiving the award, Rep. Ward said, “I am honored by this award
from the hospitality industry,” Rep. Ward said. “I know what food and lodging
mean to our state in terms of jobs and entertainment as well as what they mean
to our local economy,” he went on to say.
Cam Ward represents House District 49, comprised of all of Bibb and
part of Shelby County. Ward, a Republican state representative from Alabaster,
is seeking the Senate seat encompassing all of Bibb and Chilton Counties and a
part of Shelby County. The district is currently served by Senator Hank Erwin
who is running for Lieutenant Governor in 2010. Cam, his wife Julie and
daughter, Riley live in Alabaster.
